Admission to Post Graduation Program
Faculty of Dairy science offers M. Sc. and Ph.D.
in degrees in Dairy Technology, Dairy Engineering, Dairy Microbiology
and Dairy Chemistry disciplines.
Admission requirements
A candidate for admission to masters degree program
should posses a bachelor degree with and OGPA of not less than 6.0
( 10.00 Basis ) or its equivalent in aggregate as well as in the
field of studies in which admission is sought.
For admission to M. Sc. (Dairying), a bachelor degree in Dairy Technology shall be the requirement. The eligibility for M.Sc. degree is as under. The candidates coming from Non-dairy disciplines shall have to make up professional deficiencies by taking pre-requisite courses as prescribed by the advisory committee. (Food Technology/ Food Science) B.Sc. (Agri.), B.Sc. (Chemistry) B.Sc. (Biochemistry) and B.V. Sc. & A.H. Dairy Microbiology B.Sc./ B. Tech. (Dairy Technology/Dairying) B.Sc. (Food Technology/ Food Science) B.Sc. (Agri.), B.Sc. (Microbiology) B.Sc. (Biochemistry) and B.V. Sc. & A.H. The applicant for admission to the Ph.D. Degree program should posses at least second-class master degree in the concerned discipline. A written test will be given to the candidates for the admission to the PG Program. If necessary personal interview will also be taken. The admission will be decided upon consideration of the score at the Bachelors' or Masters' degree examination as the case may be and the score of the written test, interview. intake capacity and facilities available. Cases of candidates requiring more than 10 semesters shall be reviewed by the Dean of Post-graduate Studies on the recommendation of the Advisory Committee. The cases shall be reviewed after four semester by the major professor who will report to the Principal about taking courses during each semester. If a student has not taken any course during any 4 consecutive semesters his registration will stand cancelled. Principal will report the same to the Dean, Post-graduate studies and Registrar. The Semester in a year will be divided into two
semester Suitable adjustments will be made to accommodate Diwali
and other holidays as notified by the university.
Credit: A course credit means a period of lecture of one hour in theory or two hours of laboratory or field practical per week, A student shall attend a series of lectures, do laboratory/field work and submit assignments and report as required by teacher concerned while attending the course for which he/she is registered. Qualifying Examination
The candidate will be eligible to take the qualifying
examination, on completion of major portion of course work (atleast
75% of that determined for the student). The qualifying examination
for Master's degree shall consist of an oral test conducted by the
Advisory Committee after obtaining permission there to from the
concerned Principal of the College. However, one more member from
any other campus of the University will be nominated, in addition
to the Advisor Committee by the Dean of Post-graduate Studies for
the purpose of qualifying examination for Ph.D. degree. The Major
Advisor who is the Chairman of the Advisory Committee will communicate
the result of the examination to the Dean of Post-graduate Studies
with a copy each to the Registrar and Principal of the College.
The candidate shall be declared successful only if the decision
of the Advisor Committee (with additional member in case of Ph.D.)
is unanimous.
A candidate failing to pass the qualifying examination will be eligible to reappear at the said examination only for a maximum of two additional trials spaced at intervals of not less than 3 month each. The candidate shall be eligible to submit the thesis after passing of the qualifying examination. Thesis and Final Examination

examiners on acceptance of the thesis itself and on the performance
of the student at the viva-voce.
